Are you an emotional eater?
Posted by amy at 6:00 AM Saturday, November 7, 2009
Emotional eating is the practice of consuming large amounts of food~ usually junk food (comfort food)~ in response to your feelings instead of hunger.
Emotional eating is very common especially among women & teenage girls.
You are not alone & there is help.
First, you must ask yourself, Do you eat when you are not hungry?
Emotional eaters eat when they feel:
stressed
depressed
angry
bored
lonely
frustrated
anxious
etc.
Reaching for your favorite food can become an automatic response when you are less than happy. You must recognize this behavior & put an end to it.
Here are a few signs of emotional eating:
1. Hunger comes on suddenly & it feels urgent.
2. You crave specific foods, mostly junk food.
3. You don't realize you are eating or how much you have eaten.
4. You feel extreme guilt after eating & regret doing it.
There are more signs, but these are a good inclination that you are an emotional eater. There is help for you.
You just have to seek it out.
